How God Miraculously Healed Sciatica Pain + Prayer for You

For those of you who suffer from sciatica pain, I want to encourage you by sharing a try story of how God healed my daughter’s sciatic pain after about 30 minutes of prayer and praise. And I’d also like to pray for you.

The Set-Up
In the spring of 2014, my daughter, Ariana, came home from college when school was still in session for my two sons who were in high school. I was scheduled to drive one of the boys and a group of his teammates to their afternoon baseball game the next day. There was also a class on healing prayer at the same time as the game. The night before, Ariana volunteered to drive the boys to the game for me so I could attend the class. I was so thankful for her to have offered to drive in my place.

The Opposition
The next morning, Ariana and I planned to go on a hike together, but she woke up with severe sciatica pain. She was in so much pain that I had to help her hobble down the hallway to go to the bathroom. I knew she wouldn’t be able to drive for me in the condition she was in. Immediately, I knew this was an attack from the enemy to keep me from attending the class. It made me want to go to class even more and it ticked me off that the enemy was attacking my daughter! So I offered to pray for Ariana’s pain to leave. She agreed.

Using the P.U.S.H. Method of Prayer

I decided to use the P.U.S.H. method of prayer where you Pray Until Something Happens. I prayed a short prayer commanding the sciatica pain to leave in the Name of Jesus, and asked her if there was any change. She said no. I prayed again, speaking directly to the spirit of pain and commanded it to leave in the Mighty Name of Jesus. Still no change. I prayed a few more times but the pain did not get any better. Since I was using the PUSH method, I was not willing to give up just yet. But I didn’t know what to do next. So I sat in silence for a minute or two.

And by the way, praying until something happens is more of a guideline than a “rule”. It’s really okay to stop praying or move on to something else if you don’t sense anything happening. The point is to…

“Always pray, and do not lose heart.”
Luke 18:1 (ESV)

After sitting there in silence, I noticed I was having a hard time concentrating on hearing God. So I told Ariana I was going to another room to pray. I suggested that she have her Bible-in-a-year quiet time to see if God would speak to her through the Word. She opened her Bible and I went and sat at my desk and opened mine.

Enter His Courts With Praise

After a few minutes, I sensed the Lord say, “Praise Me.” It wasn’t a loud voice, just a quiet sense that I had. So I turned on some praise music and had it playing through a loud speaker that could be heard throughout the house. I knew Ariana could hear it, too.

I started singing along to the music, letting go of Ariana’s pain and my needs, and just entered into praise. About fifteen minutes later, Ariana walked up to me with no limp and said, “It’s gone.”

“What? Really it’s all gone?”

“Yeah. We can go for the hike now.”

We were excited but also a bit shocked that God actually healed her. We praised God for what He had just done! I knew it was a miraculous healing because I’ve had relatives with sciatica pain who have dealt with this issue for years. It’s not usually something that goes away by itself. But God graciously removed her pain quickly that day. Ariana and I were able to go on an hour-long hike together, and that afternoon she drove the baseball players to their game, and I went to my healing prayer training class.

Take-Aways From this Story

1) God’s loves us so much that is willing to heal our physical ailments.  It’s a mystery as to why and when God chooses to heal us. But God’s Word and the Gospel message are all about God’s deep Love for us. God loves us so much that He sent His only begotten Son (Jesus Christ of Nazareth) to die the most horrific death for us. (John 3:16) When Jesus died on the cross, He took on our griefs, our sins, our diseases, and all the darkness of world so that we could be free. (Isaiah 53:4-5, Matthew 8:17, Luke 4:18-19) His death made a way for us to live in complete freedom. And all we have to do is believe in Him. (Matthew 16:16, John 3:16, John 5:24, Galatians 2:16) That’s it! There is no other work required. That’s pretty amazing news!

2) If God calls you to do something, rest assured that He will accomplish His purpose. Sometimes we don’t need to do anything other than just rest, knowing that God will take care of any opposition that comes our way. Other times, God will prompt us to stand firm and pray against the opposition with authority. In this story, I felt led to pray and to not allow the enemy to stop me from going to that class. When my initial prayers didn’t work, I started to doubt but then quickly changed the way I was praying—I moved to a place where I could be alone with God. If God is calling you to pray against the opposition, do not be afraid. Simply go to a quiet place and use all five of your sense to listen to what He has to say for your particular situation.  Keep your focus on God, not the opposition.

3) Praise and thanksgiving ushers us into the throne room of heaven.
Psalm 100:4 says, “Enter His gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise.” Praise is a wonderful way to enter into God’s Presence. Try singing out loud to several praise songs in a row. A Healing Prayer for You

If you suffer from sciatica pain, I’d like to pray for you. I call your spirit forward and invite you to open your heart to receive this blessing:

Papa God,
I thank You for Your overwhelming love and the miraculous healing You perform day after day. Thank You for healing Ariana’s sciatica pain so I could go to the healing prayer class that day. And thank You for those reading this blog post. Lord, You say in Your Word that You do not show no partiality to anyone (Acts 10:34) and that You will rescue anyone who calls on Your name. (Psalm 50:15). I also know from experience that You sometimes heal others from the same afflictions we ourselves have overcome. You also comfort us in our affliction so that we may be able to comfort others in the same way we were comforted. (2 Corinthians 1:4) So, Lord, pray on behalf of anyone reading that who suffers from sciatica pain and ask that You would comfort them. I also pray boldly that You would completely heal them. Remove the spirit of pain and the spirit of affliction that’s upon them and fill them afresh with Your Holy Spirit’s living waters to fully cleanse their bodies. Fill them up so they are overflowing with Your Presence, Father. Call them into a time of praising You for Who You are. I pray this in the Name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth.
Amen.

Friendly reminder: There are no formulas for healing. Any suggestions or examples of how to pray are merely suggestions. The absolute best “method” to use is to seek the Lord and spend time using your five senses to discern what He has to say to you personally about your situation. Not sure you’re hearing God clearly? Rest assured we all feel that way sometimes. The best way to practice listening to God’s voice is by reading the Bible. Ask Holy Spirit to help you understand what you’re reading and ask Him to speak to you directly from His Word. God will often use Scripture to highlight something for us.
