His Word Lights Up My Mental Path

I’ve been hanging out in Psalm 27, which starts with, “The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear?”

I woke up this morning With the lyrics to “There is a Cloud” by Elevation Music running through my mind…”We receive Your rain…” repeated over and over as I was waking up.

Then I started pondering this thought: Jesus is the Word. (John 1:1) That means we get to put His thoughts into our minds every time we read the Bible. That’s pretty cool! Isaiah says His thoughts and His ways are higher than ours (Is. 55:8-9). And we _get_ to pour His thoughts into our own when we read His Word. Woah…

That’s why His words to us in His Word light up our path. (Psalm 119:105) So if I want to know what God’s thinking, I can read the Bible, His love letter to us. If I want to know what He thinks of me, all I have to do is to soak in His Word and receive His rain.
