“In Remission” vs. “Healed” Round Two
I took Ariana to our pediatrician who confirmed that this is indeed arthritis. He said that because it’s an autoimmune illness, the stomach flu that she got set off her immune system. He prescribed Aleve twice a day for two weeks. Hmmm…. Side effects?
I thought we were done with Ariana’s arthritis, so this news got me down. š Not easy to hear this, especially because we were so hopeful that we could conquer it forever.
I’ve got an appointment with our holistic pediatrician next Tuesday for Ariana to see if she can recommend natural medicine to help with this. I’m trying to steer clear of medicines that cause gut damage or have other side effects.
Well, I have to admit, I’ve been humbled in a big way. I spoke too soon to have proclaimed her “healed completely”. But hopefully soon we’ll actually be saying “in remission” for many, many years for both Ariana and Niko. Or better yet, “healed”.
