The Best Strategies for Every Challenge
As long as I depend on Him, I believe each issue can be overcome…not in my own strength, but through prayer, by claiming the promises in the Bible, and by releasing my burdens into God’s hands.
So, before making one phone call or doing one Internet search for an answer, I’m remembering to use these battle ground weapons:
The Best Strategies for Every Challenge
(1) Pray first before getting started
Sometimes I use praise songs to help my thoughts line up with God’s. I’m finding that this calms me down and helps me proceed in peace. These days I’m singing the hymn “How Great A Foundation” and praying through Psalm 91. I picked these specifically because the issue I’m in charge of is the broken concrete foundation of an out-of-state home.
(2) Admit limitations
I acknowledge to God that I can’t do it alone and that I’m relying on Him to help me. I then ask for His help.
(3) Release the issue to God
This is a daily and sometimes hourly practice of surrendering the problem and the outcome of the issue to God. It’s a matter of saying, “God, I give this problem to You to solve. Please take it and show me what I am to do.” It’s also a matter of believing He really can solve it without my interference.
(4) Tell God, “I trust You”
To overtake these “giants” that are on my path, I’m trying to adopt shepherd boy David’s faith when he entered into battle with Goliath. He knew God would prevail. (1 Samuel 17: 36-37) In my mind I know that, too, but sometimes I doubt it in my heart. My saying, “I trust You, God” helps my heart line up with what I know in my head. Saying it out loud helps me remind and convince myself that I really do trust Him.
These Bible verses are good reminders for me and contain beautiful promises which I’ve underlined.
USE SPIRITUAL WEAPONS – 2 Corinthians 10:4-5
“The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.”
PUT ON THE ARMOR OF GOD – Ephesians 6:12-13
“For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.”
HOW TO PRAY – Philippians 4:6-7
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
RELEASE YOUR BURDENS – Matthew 11:28-30
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
